We Are
50501 Quincy, Illinois
We're here to make a difference not just for Quincy, but for the nation
About Us
The original 50501 movement began in January 2025, created as a grassroots organization by various groups that decided to band together to create a national day of protest. At first, the idea of "50501" meant "50 states, 50 protests, 1 movement" as a unifying concept, with the intention of having a single day of at least one protest in every state (usually in the capitols). The first protest was held February 5, 2025 and soon after another was set for February 17, 2025 and a third set for March 4, 2025. At that point, numerous "chapters" of the 50501 movement began popping up around the nation, and it was around this time that the Quincy group came together.
The 50501 movement in Quincy, Illinois is not associated with any single political group or organization. Instead, we are a non-partisan group that shares a common truth: America is being led by the oligarchy, and the Trump/Musk regime aims to dismantle the nation that we know and line their pockets with whatever resulting funds they can squeeze from the lower and middle classes.
Our group has a base demand of three basic ideas:
-
A global ceasefire
-
The cessation of unconstitutional deportations
-
Renewed respect for human life and rights
Although we are led by dual organizers, we firmly believe that this group is at its heart owned by those who make it happen: the participants who show up, who help organize, and who speak out. We serve our community, and its members.
On Our Ethics and Leadership
We’re not here to burn out, we’re here to build power.
50501 is a community-driven movement grounded in justice, compassion, and collective action. We exist to fight for a better world: one where everyone’s voice matters, and where people are safe, fed, housed, and heard.
We know the times are intense. The anger is justified. The fear is real. And the desire to do something can feel overwhelming.
But we don’t win by being reckless.
We win by being smart. We win by protecting each other.
We win by organizing with intention, not impulse.
How We Lead
-
We believe in grounded, ethical leadership. Not flash, not ego.
-
We model calm, strategic resistance even in the face of chaos.
-
We listen first, speak honestly, and take responsibility for what we amplify.
How We Show Up
We ask everyone who shows up in our spaces — online or on the ground — to commit to:
-
Clarity of purpose. If you don’t know who’s organizing something or what the goal is, ask questions before committing.
-
Respect for safety. We do not pressure anyone to risk arrest, injury, or employment. All forms of contribution matter, not just those on the front lines.
-
Non-escalation without consensus. We don’t make unilateral decisions that raise the stakes for everyone. We work as a team.
-
Care for one another. If someone’s in distress, we respond. If someone needs to tap out, we support. Burnout is not a badge of honor.
-
Truth over spectacle. We verify sources before we share. We call out misinformation, even when it’s “on our side.”
What We’re Not
-
We are not here for clout, chaos, or aesthetic rebellion.
-
We are not here to bait violence or provoke police crackdowns.
-
We are not here to echo calls to action from unverifiable sources — especially when those sources push for illegal acts without transparency or planning.
What We Believe
You don’t have to risk everything to care deeply.
You don’t have to scream to be powerful.
You don’t have to be perfect to be part of the solution.
We are building something that lasts, and you are part of that.
Thank you for being here. Let’s keep each other safe, informed, and unstoppable.
